Offspring - Why Don't You Get A Job
Yay I got a job! OK, a part time job. And it's only for 2 weeks (with a possibility for extension). But hey, it's exactly what I wanted because I'm going to Brazil on the 4th of August! I'll be back on the 23rd so if I play my cards right, I'll have a part time job waiting for me. :D
About the job... I'm a CSS monkey. They give me a ASPX autogenerated site (in XHTML 1.0 Transition), a giant CSS (2.0), some images in JPG, and I have to transform all the code so the layout matches the images... Not that hard, if the @!#$? browsers would comply to the standard!! Here's a run down on my workflow:
- Figure out how to duplicate the image feature in CSS.
- Do it in FireFox 1.0 (my minimum spec) with Webdeveloper.
- Watch it work, enjoy.
- Try it in Internet Explorer 5.5 (my minimum spec).
- Figure out how to stab IE 5.5 users in the face with CSS.
- Give up will to live.
- Hack. Hack. Hack.
- Repeat.
Except IE being antichrist incarnate, the work is kinda fun since I get to feel creative. If I pass this I'll be moved to a PDA project which sounds even more fun! Pray for me...
Seriously though, how can we ban IE users from existence? Most people use that, and that forces new webpages to include horrible hacks just so it displays correctly. If all the big pages would go "NO! NO MORE!" and force the users to upgrade, we would all be saved! Or would we?.. discuss!
