Driver Implementation Issues

I was recently working on an updated POM demonstration program, and ran into a driver problem on my Dell Vostro (with a Geforce 8600M GT). I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but this image is made with the hardware device:



and this one is generated with the reference device:



Unfortunately, I don't think Dell is planning on updating their drivers any time soon...

Good Grief! That's just great - my driver bug has been around for years and I only now find it...

I remember (now) when you posted that screen shot. At the time, I was still happily plugging away with my D3D9 renderer and hadn't even created a D3D10 device a single time. Damn those drivers, damn them!

re-reading my original post reminded me of Simon's comments. Really should get around to checking this one out with PIX or NVPerfHUD one day... could well just be a leaking state or some other easily fixable bug!?
