Modern Game Music vs Old School

Hi!

This is such a great topic. I couldn't agree more. Video Game music just isn't all that great anymore. All the music is much too moody. Sorry guys, but I don't justify one chord played by strings to be music. Sure there are a few titles here and there that have good music. The semi-recent Zelda's had great music. And as stated before, the theme to Deus Ex is fantastic. I think we as musicians should change the fact that music has a huge role in a game. It doesn't have to be John Williams quality stuff, but it should at least have some meat too it. It must have a melody. And, it must go somewhere. Something catchy that doesn't detract the player totally. Anyway, in my opinion, here are the games with the best music of all time:

-The 7th Guest and 11th Hour
-All of the Journeyman Project Games
-All Zelda music
-Almost all of the Final Fantasy stuff

Have a good one all. And remember, music in a game must be good. Not empty.
