The LaptopThe new laptop arrived yesterday, a full week ahead of time. I'm busily downloading updates, to be followed by a few hours of VS to be installed, then the DXSDK, etc... It really is amazing how long it takes to get a machine ready to rock, but it is going to be very much worth it. My last laptop had a GeForce 5200 FX, and this one has a GeForce 8600M GT. It should be good fun to see what I can do with this machine!

Hieroglyph 2In other news, I started the project for the second incarnation of my multimedia engine. I don't want to call it a game engine anymore, because it really does get used for other purposes than games. Plus I am planning a bunch more features and a relatively high level redesign. As I work out some of the details I'll post about the decisions that I've made.

The ArticleThe article has been finished for a little while now, and I'm wrapping up the demo program for it. Once it gets sent in, I'll feel a bit of relief from the pressure to do a good job. Hopefully everyone will like it...
