Rendering System Design

Well, I've been talking over the last few posts about describing my rendering system. I have been writing a small document trying to describe it in some detail, but I haven't had very much free time per day - so the end result is that it took forever to write up even a semi-complete document. Since the time crunch has been so tight, I have decided to post the document as it is currently, and will update it later if it makes sense to put more time into it.

The reason for me posting this document is two-fold:

1. I would like to try to help others that are starting out to get a feel for one potential way to solve the renderer design issue.

2. I would like to get some feedback or tips from some of the more seasoned developers out there that may have already surpassed this design concept with something better.

In both cases, I am looking forward to as much discussion as possible. So please check out the following link, and let me know what you think about it:

The Hieroglyph Rendering System

Depending on the response from this document, I will likely either continue to revise and update it, or potentially move on to another component of my current multimedia engine. Please let me know what you think!
