We agreed that we would release our game's name this evening (1:30am). I am incredibly proud of ?? (Bohee)'s art so far. I feel it really ties the game together well right now. I have a lot of confidence that we will score well on the graphics portion of the judging. The art ties in incredibly well with our gameplay, and it is unique. We figure that now the competition is nearly half way completed it was time to release a little more than just words or a blurry picture. As badly as I would like to release some actual gameplay footage, I think I would rather have it be a surprise to the player. I feel that our tutorial is a fresh take on informing the player on how to play.

There are 6 sections in the tutorial and they are all completed and working in a wonderful fashion. I hope to build upon this and create some fantastic gameplay for all of you that decide to try our game. Primarily what is left to be completed are sprite animations (yes our game is 2d), audio, and implementing the level design that is in my brain! For the most part, the code is in place and ready to be duplicated where needed. Unreal Engine 4 has been incredibly powerful and it is easily the best $20 I have ever spent. I highly suggest you other devs take a look at it. There really isn't anything better out there. I've had a lot of experience with the CryEngine platform, some familiarity with Unity, but easily UE4 surpasses them in quality. Maybe I am bias because I like how fast progress has been this week tongue.png

I look forward to showing a screenshot or two the beginning of this weekend. I love what I am seeing from the other teams and am quite interested in playing everything you guys and girls have made. Don't forget to drink water and stretch every once-in-awhile happy.png

Nice title :)

Been thinking about UE4 for a bit now, and 20$ certainly doesn't scare me. It will be interesting to see your results :)

I hope our project gets you off the fence.

Cool title. I've been pretty darn impressed with the projects using Unity this week, so I look forward to seeing the results of your UE4 project.

As for suggesting that I leave my computer for stretching and fluids... You can forget it! I'll be peeling myself from the chair when I'm done, and not 1 minute sooner!

I look forward to seeing those screenshots! I'm also rather curious about your gameplay, and this approach to tutorialising that you mention... ^_^

As to Unreal Engine, I daresay that it is good (how are the tools, by the way?), but I'm actually pretty happy with Panda3D--it may lack in tools, but I really enjoy using it (except, perhaps, when I bump into the engine's insistence that "points" are not "vectors"...). The fact that it's entirely free helps, too. (Well, free as long as you don't use fmod, which has its own licence, I believe; but OpenAL is available to take its place.)

Cancel your subscription and you get to use everything you've downloaded the 30 days you had it; forever. 5% royalty on earnings over $50k per project. Like an update that was published? Resubscribe, download and have access again for 30 days to the marketplace, again keeping anything you download and cancel again. No catch or anything( I've done it). Don't even get me started on the Blueprint system. Our entry is created entirely with blueprints(the visual scripting tool) without a single line of code typed. Keep in mind when you play our game that I have only uses this engine for 3 months. You jump Panda's ship quicker than you can believe!

In Panda's case, for no payment and no royalties, you get full access to the source code, no limitations on term of use (unless I'm forgetting something) and a (fairly) active community (which includes a fair few snippets and examples). I'll grant that Panda lacks in tools, and its documentation is sometimes a shambles, but I've overall been pretty impressed by Panda.

We will indeed see, I suppose--when you actually show us your game, of course. tongue.png

Yes I must admit you guys are doing the best at building the suspense of not knowing what you are doing. Hope all is going well and keep hacking away! :)
